Action Theatre – Wed evenings

Action Theatre
with Phil Mitchell

Action Theatre is a dynamic approach to physical and spoken improvisation developed by Ruth Zaporah of the USA. Phil is an experienced practitioner of the method, trained in the USA by Ruth.

In this series of six classes, we will explore how to have fun improvising, how to use that fun to enhance the creative process, to deepen our pleasure and the pleasure of the audience. My intention is to provide a safe space to experiment with movement, voice and narrative, being in the moment, fully present, with no attachments.

I am inspired in my work by my training with Ruth Zaporah in Action Theater™ (I have been a Certified Action Theatre teacher since 2008), by Al Wunder, Anna Halprin, Soto Hoffman and Deborah Hay – and many other teachers over the last fifteen years. I’ve been teaching and performing in Australia, USA and Europe for several years, and delight in guiding others to access new veins of creativity within themselves. In this approach to improvisation, students of a wide range of experience can work together and learn from each other.
